My name is Ernie Gollehon, I was born and raised in Bakersfield, Ca. I am the third generation of Gollehons to call Kern County my home. After graduating South High School in 1983, I then attended Bakersfield College where I received an Associate of Arts Degree in Fire Science. I then served as a reserve firefighter for the Bakersfield Fire Department for the next several years. In 1989, I turned my interest to law enforcement and for almost twenty-seven years I have been a correctional officer for the California Department of Corrections. With my wife of almost twenty-four years, Bobbie, by my side we have raised two children. My daughter, Sara, is
graduating from California Baptist University this spring and our son, Matthew, is finishing up his second year at Taft Community College and will be transferring to Cal Baptist this fall. Kern County is a very giving community rich in family values, this is where I learned to serve. I started as a young volunteer firefighter, went into law enforcement, and have worked with the Ronald McDonald House Charity putting on several fund raisers. I believe my life experiences and growing up in Kern County has prepared me for the next level of service in my life, and that is to serve as a California State Assemblyman in the 34th District.
